Besides it attracts visitors for the scenic beauty all around Vegas. We bring you the same thrill and fun at Chrysalis 09 edition at LIBA. Be a part of Vegas culture in our very own Chennai.

Well said by Andre Maurois a French writer; Business is truly a blend of war and sport and so is Chrysalis-09, where we all will observe a business strategic war between teams through many quality business games. Chrysalis provides us a platform to prove ourselves before getting into real business and that is the essence of its name. The word Chrysalis is used for butterflies in early stage of their life cycle. So the butterflies in the making accept this challenge before flying into the real world of business. It also invites corporates to take up the challenge from these newbies.
With a theme of Las Vegas, the first thought comes to our mind is 'Gamble', although business has risk involved in it and same you may find in Chrysalis09 but Chrysalis is all about 'Leaving nothing to chance' and that's the spirit of being real manager and have contingency plans against all the risks.
So participants be ready to prove your metal and for you all, VISA is not required this time to enter into Las Vegas

Derek O'Derek!!

Three things were an absolute must for me when I was a kid in school. Swat Kats, Scooby Doo and the Bournivta Quiz Contest. The cartoons were a daily affair, but the quiz show would run on Zee TV only on Sundays. So, Sunday afternoons would be booked with the entire (extended) family crowding together before the television to watch the Derek O'Brien-hosted Bournvita Quiz Contest.Here's a quick word on Mr.Brien. We all know Derek as the guy who hosts the longest-running game show on Indian television, the Bournvita Quiz Contest..O'Brien was born in Kolkata.He is the son of quiz master Neil O' Brien. He went to St. Xavier's Collegiate School in the city and St. Columba's School in Delhi, India. After graduating in English from Scottish Church College, Kolkata, he began his professional career as a journalist but soon shifted to advertising. Today, he is the host of the longest running knowledge game show on Indian television, the Bournvita Quiz Contest. He conducts inter-school quiz contests not only India, but also in United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal.To say I am excited to meet Mr.Brien in the flesh on the 28th of February would be an understatement. Exquizite '09 promises to be a rockin' roller coaster ride, with the best quizzing brains in the country fighting it out for the top spot. Be there to catch the action live at LIBA!!

“The General of an Army never goes to war without weighing the odds and being sure he can vanquish the enemy. The captain of a good team will see that his team is well prepared to take on the opponent team. A good management will see that they are well prepared for the future by planning well ahead.” Don’t you guys see something in common out here? I guess I do! All these guys painstakingly prepare for what they are about to face. Simply put it’s like what Preston Bradley said “Expect victory and you make victory.” It doesn’t come for free, not here! If you are industrious enough you could make it happen. Like the saying goes, “If you think you can win, you can. Faith is necessary to victory.” I guess that is where the Spirit of Las Vegas and Chrysalis converge. Both, almost completely depend on meticulous planning, however there is an element of chance (or luck as some would say) everywhere. So come over and try your hand. May the best man win!!! Or the best woman too!!!

Tier 1 suppliers of casinos always have a hard time, supplying the casinos of Las Vegas with all that they need. The supply chain pressures are intense and the need of the hour is to not just manufacture cheap, but to ensure delivery at lowest cost. Though information technology brings with it many possibilities, ultimately the physical goods need to be dealt with.

Yes!!! In a deck of cards, it is this one that has the highest value and worth. True to tradition of yesteryears, we indulge in our quest to find the ultimate managers, the ace of spades.

In this two day event, teams of 3 will journey through six rounds encompassing aspects of marketing, finance, HR, operations and the like under the watchful eyes of the “Board”, an all powerful body consisting of students, professors and the common man. Teams not only have to come up trumps in all the rounds but also appease the “Board” at all times.

You better have an ace up your sleeve for this one!!!

THE PIT BOSS

A Pit boss is the person who is in charge of the casino, looking after the employees who work in the casino pit. His is the omnipresent figure, scrutinising and dissecting every movement in the pit, looking for discrepancies, making life easier for everyone else. Now is that not the work of all us HR managers??

This game focuses on the subtle issues faced by HR managers with the advent of the financial crisis and the post Satyam era. This one requires teamwork, effective communication, problem solving and perspective taking.

The HR is the boss in this one. And how!!!

ROL(E) N PLAY

Chrysalis offers you a chance to do the same albeit in a slightly twisted way. The game tests the HR prowess of participating teams through role plays, problem solving and negotiation, in the most creative way possible.

The game culminates with a reverse quiz that inculcates the intricacies of the “The Kelly Criterion”; a strategy in the gambling parlance that uses probability to determine the optimum level of wager in order to maximize the future median level of earnings.

A perfect amalgamation of risk taking and skills, this one!!!

TEXAS HOLD ‘EM POKER

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to wager on your Marketing skills? Put your money where your mouth is? Wanna know where you stand?

Texas Hold ‘Em Poker is played in Casinos around the world, more so in Sin City. In this form of poker, where the players use the five “community” cards given to each of them and two “hole” cards placed on the table effectively to pocket the moolah.

In this one too, the participants need to play a game of Texas Hold ‘em Poker, juggling the various manifestations of branding and come up trumps.

LIBA provides you its very own “Strip” to carry out commodity trading, testing your analytical ability, organizing skills, quick thinking, and ability to handle pressure. Teams of 3 will be exposed to a real life scenario, interacting with investment bankers, money lenders and other service providers to facilitate trading.

One member of each team will be in the “Strip” executing trades, calling out to buy or sell. The other team members will be setting up a back office, analysing the news and research reports and provide information to the trader through a system. The winner is the team that garners maximum profits.

WHEEL OF FORTUNE

Roulette is the quintessential wheel of fortune in all casinos. It chugs along leaving in its wake hope and despair, agony and ecstasy.

Chrysalis provides its very own wheel of fortune, addressing burning issues that are relevant in the world of today by assigning them to teams of 2 in a randomised order. Irrespective of the topics they are confronted with, the teams have to overcome the vagaries of fortune by entwining the various topics seamlessly and satiating the queries of the judge to bag the booty.

This game requires you to formulate the perfect marketing strategy with seamless synergies between all the aspects connected to a holistic marketing campaign, from formation to implementation. Teams of 2 need to play with as well as against each other in this one. The one who wins will be the one who would have got maximum help from competitors!!! Sounds ironic doesn’t it??
